artist statement

As an artist, ignorance is my bliss.  I have no formal training to tell me that what I want to create can't be done. The word no is just not in my  vocabulary.  I use acrylic, house paint, fabric paint, nail polish, anything I can find.  I paint on used canvases or make them from scraps I find.  Whether itʼs recycled art, Visual poetry or painting on my own clothes, I just go for it.

Baptism in Acid is a mixed media painting with photos I took of my own body, Chihuahua heads and then more painting on top. As seen in this piece, humor is huge in my life. Mixing the very serious with outrageous and ridiculous is a way to make a statement on the world around us.

art scene today Q & A

Q: Where do you see yourself in the art scene today?

A: TBD

Q: What is in your inspiration?
A:  Every obstacle I face I work out thru my art.

Q: What are your challenges?
A:  Picking one area of art to focus on. Not only do I love painting but I love writing poetry, designing clothes and taking photographs. Itʼs difficult to keep myself focused.

Q: How did you/do you choose your medium?
A: I started using recycled materials because I had no money and could not afford anything else. I continue to do this because I love it.

Q: Which artist has influenced you the most?
A: Andy Warhol & Salvador Dalí.
