artist statement

Union of unconscious and conscious mind.  Uniting more than one form of 'reality' into one.  That of the unconscious mind and the conscious. Inspiration comes as a  result of an immense love for painting and cinematography.   In both mediums, that of eroticism is always present. Starting from Renaissance paintings, to today's, as well as in cinematography and still photography. Cinematography has always been one of the most powerful influences in my image making, along with all kinds of painting. Many types of film, from all-time classics in black and white to the avant garde of the sixties to today's, have the greatest impact in my work.

Eroticism can be latent or prevalent. Latent eroticism, is the one that is better expressed in my work but not only. Unconscious erotic needs or fantasies can emerge in many forms. Digging in deep into the unconscious mind has a major impact on my way to express inner feelings, sensations and dreams.  So, it is in that context that images of the unconscious mind come to meet painting and frames from the movies to produce a new effect which expresses my inner reality (in this case my sensual-erotic world)  visually, as well as emotionally and conceptually.
